A couple of days ago I did a short email interview with Michael Zhang at Folksonomy about ChinesePod. Michael is running a series of interviews, including people like Kevin Rose (the founder of Digg) and John Battelle (author of the book ‘Search’). I feel I’m in good company over there!

“You have to embed stuff into the design/structure/ethos that enables a virulent WoM"
What does WoM means?
I really enjoyed your recent “cocktail party” lesson with John incidentally. I think one of the real advantages of the podcast format is that it allows you to get rid of the formalism of structured language education and expose yourself to different kinds of discussions more naturally.
I wish you guys were around when I started learning Chinese back in the late 1990s. It’s really important to be able to continually expose yourself to language, and especially the sorts of things you don’t run into everyday. Keeping things light and fun is also important.
Hi,
WoM stands for ‘word of mouth’, as in word of mouth marketing.
