Pushing forward with Spanish Sense

We had a very good response on the ChinesePod blog for people interested in the Spanish project. There simply are many more people in the US and Europe studying Spanish than Mandarin. I think we’ll find some really great talent, especially if we use the Big Brain to do it – for example through the ChinesPod blog.

One issue for me is the pedagogical basis of the program and particulary the role of grammar. I’m keen to see if the lexical approach will work. (I’m pretty sure it will.) As far a I can tell it hasn’t been widely used to teach Spanish. I definitely want an alternative to the old grammar-translation approach.

Well, I can see that the site is up but when I tried to register it wouldn’t let me. I suppose we are not quite ready for the grand opening. I’ve got to say one thing though. The site looks pretty nice and so does Maria Massarini!

Where is the main site? Have the lessons started? How do I get my mum to register?

Weili,

SpanishSense is in beta: http://www.spanishsense.com but it will take a short while to get the full service running.

I sure like what I see thus far. From my experiences with ChinesePod, I trust this community will also maintain a kind-spirited and patient co-evolutionary working out of the initial kinks. ;-)

Whoops! I just read that error message in full; I might now need to change my password.

I am having difficulty in adding a comment to a lesson discussion.
When I press submit all I get is the button text changing to ‘waiting’ and the comment is not accepted

Mike,
I’m not sure there’s anyone at the tiller yet.

Yes, this is a ghost site and there’s just the two of us left – creepy!
