The post “Learning from Context” got me thinking about what I’ve always wanted to do: go beyond textbooks or your wonderful podcasts and attend a language school in Taiwan or China. I’ve been constantly hearing about the International Chinese Language Program aka ICLP in Taipei, both from those that are interested in Taiwan, but also those that go on to China, some to work professionally. The Wikipedia page for ICLP seems to list impressive alumni. Edward Wong, the New York Times reporter is now covering China after his time there; I wonder if he has ever expressed thoughts directly on his time there and how much Mandarin he uses in his daily reporting work.
Does the chinesepod team have thoughts on ICLP and other Chinese immersion programs? Nothing like context, right?
John, maybe this link will work better.
